Despite the famed entrepreneurial spirit of Gujarat, the state ranks a low #7 in the number of startups. With a view to harnessing this spirit, we have scheduled a packed calendar of workshops, accelerators, business pitch initiatives and more across Gujarat all year.
The first of the initiatives, CIIE GetStarted was hosted across the 4 cities of Vadodara, Surat, Rajkot and Ahmedabad from 28 February till 3 March 2017. The initiative comprised half-day workshops to inspire aspiring entrepreneurs-students, makers, working professionals with mentorship and guidance to transform any business idea into a business.
CIIE GetStarted was designed to demystify entrepreneurship and help transform business ideas into a business. Select promising entrepreneurs have also been invited to attend an advanced entrepreneur program, LaunchBoard in Ahmedabad.
CIIE GetStarted’s 4-hour workshop comprised:
• Introduction to entrepreneurship and understanding the startup journey
• Tools and frameworks to help startups get to the next lev
• Business idea and market validation tools to identify customer segments of the business
• Understand and implement the product–market
The workshop saw an overwhelming response and registrations were several times of what could be accommodated despite batch size being revised twice over. The four-city event was attended by more than 200 aspiring entrepreneurs.
To give workshop participants a reality check, startup founders of Freecopy, Elmo logistics, Oizom and Responscity shared their startup journey, challenges faced and shared insights and hitherto untold experiences.
Raahish Kalaria, cofounder FreeCopy said, “We had a wonderful time interacting with enthusiastic participants that came from diverse backgrounds. We also made connections and believe that events like CIIE GetStarted do more than raising awareness about startups – they inspire people to take the risky leap of founding a startup venture.”
Vruhank Vyas, cofounder Oizom said, “CIIE GetStarted is a perfect platform for the students to get clarity and knowledge about the startup ecosystem. I am happy to see the enthusiasm amongst the attendees and glad to share my entrepreneurial journey with everyone. I am sure it will motivate them to solve much bigger problems. Events like this will definitely help to establish a positive startup ecosystem quickly.”
We were ably supported by partners across the 4 cities, namely – Buddybits, Echai, GBG Ahmedabad, GCS, HeadStart, MICA Incubator, MSU Baroda, SGCCI, Spaceplexx, Startup Vadodara, TaxOrigin, TiE Ahmedabad, Venture Studio at Ahmedabad University and WE Group.
